The forgotten mother!

Mother’s Day is one of our nations biggest celebrations!  It is a day when we celebrate the gift given to us as women…the gift of bringing a human being into the world.

It is a tribute, a reminder and a celebration of the power of love.  The power of steadfast love over a period of time needed to raise a human child.

For many mothers its a day filled with whimsy.  Home made presents and notes scribbled from the heart.  Loved ones gathered and held close.

But it’s not always an easy day.

It is a hard day for the “forgotten mothers!”

The mother’s whose womb will always be empty…

The mother whose womb gave birth, but whose little grew angel wings way too early…

The child whose mother said goodbye before her time…

Mother’s Day for these forgotten mothers is a day filled with sore hearts, sorrow and pain.

It is easy to overlook the women in our midst whose heart is crying because their arms are empty.

I think unless you have been through it, it is hard to truly understand the broken heart.

It is hard to find the right words …what can you possibly say that will soothe and heal a heart that is broken?

But to say something is better then to say nothing…

It is better to be clumsy around a heart that is shattered and broken than to totally ignore the shattered, broken pieces.

No mother wants her child to go un remembered.

No woman wants her desire for a child not able to be conceived, to go un remembered.

Every child wants to remember the mother who went too early.

Today in the lead up to Mother’s Day I simply want to remember hydra and acknowledge the women in countries whose arms are empty because they didn’t get access to education,  medical help, or social support and love.

Life isn’t equal and it certainly isn’t always fair.

If prayers could be carried across the oceans I hope you can hear our little prayer.

“We stand with you wanting a better world.

A world filled with compassion and love, education and hope…a little more equality and fairness.

We see your broken empty heart and arms.

I hope you can see us whispering, “We see you…and we are so sorry for your loss.”
